Treasure Hunt Instructions

Create interactive treasure hunts using QR codes and photos.

📋 What You'll Need​

  • Smartphone/tablet with camera
  • Printer and scissors
  • QR codes PDF (download and print)
  • A treasure to hide!

🎯 Creating Your Treasure Hunt​

1. Prepare QR Codes​

  • Download and print the QR codes PDF or use your own QR codes.

2. Set Up Hunt Locations​

For each location:

  1. Place a QR code at your chosen spot
  2. Scan the QR code and Take a clear photo of the location using the creator tool
  3. Click "Save as Hunt Location"

3. Set Final Treasure Location​

  1. Place your treasure (no QR code needed)
  2. Take a photo of the treasure location
  3. Click "Save as Final Treasure"

4. Organize (Optional)​

  • Use ↑↓ arrows to reorder locations
  • Delete unwanted locations
  • Test by walking through your hunt

🏃‍♂️ Running Your Treasure Hunt​

  1. Open the standalone QR scanner page on the same device used to create the hunt
  2. Choose hunt mode: Sequential (your order) or Random (shuffled)
  3. Press "Start Hunt" - the first location photo appears
  4. Guide hunters to find and scan each QR code
  5. Celebrate when they reach the treasure! 🎉

🔧 Quick Tips​

Creating hunts:

  • Choose recognizable, safe locations
  • Take photos from the hunter's perspective

During the hunt:

  • Scan QR codes in the correct order - the app will guide you if you scan the wrong one
  • If you accidentally find a future QR code, don't worry! The app will tell you to keep looking for the current location

Technical notes:

  • All data stored locally in your browser
  • Use same device for creating and running hunts
  • Data persists until browser storage is cleared

Troubleshooting:

  • QR won't scan? Check lighting and hold camera steady
  • Photos not showing? Use same browser/device
  • Wrong order? Use reorder arrows in database
